L.A. Suess began his musical career over 30 years ago in the
historic riverboat town of Galena, IL where his interest in history and
love of music led him to perform for two seasons on such fine riverboats as
Twilight and the Julia Belle Swain. L.A. spent his off seasons performing
with Jim Post in The Heart of Christmas in Chicago, Rockford, and Galena,
IL and for the Illinois Winter Special Olympics opening ceremonies.
Recently L.A. has spent 5 years in Branson, MO entertaining
audiences at Silver Dollar City, the Branson Belle, Mutton Hollow, the
Princess Sidewheeler, and the White River Cruise Company. Now performing
on the riverboat Mark Twain in Hannibal, MO, L.A. Suess has returned to the
river to delight audiences and enhance their riverboat experience.
The success that L.A. Suess has had in his career comes, as he
would say, from being versatile. He has sought out the songs his audience
enjoys, and yet, he writes insightful songs of history and humanity. He
has sung solos and harmonies, in his single act and in bands and enjoys
playing several instruments.
The unique ability to play guitar or banjo in combination with
harmonica allows L.A. such flexibility that each show is tailored to fit
and a lifetime of singing shows itself with power and tenderness. The
easygoing nature of L.A. Suess and his direct involvement with each
audience, time and again, proves to be very memorable.
The tradition of music on the river continues with the sound
of jazz and blues from Ben Bumbry and the Messengers. Over fifty years of
entertaining qualifies this ensemble to offer all ages a good time. The
Messengers will show you why the river, Hannibal to New Orleans, is the
origin of jazz.
